An Officer and the Gentleman

An Officer and the Gentleman

A Poem by TTBoy28

Images and urges

beset him now

Knowing fear could power

and force a talk

But he wants more

With love at home

fantasies could not be

Though the dream has been

achieved with a vow

He wants a little more

He needs a little more

if only without the restraints

he possesses

For a chance he is willing

to drop his guard and guard

his desires

A tap on his buckle

A flash of approachability

he rests as if near proposing

If not for his constant exposure

coy would he be like in a pond

avoiding the bait dropped before him

With a fond greeting

both become vulnerable

Each uniform more meaningful

than they know

Arising suspicion upstages all

and with x-ray vision

the .357 is but a toy

Another vow is made

with no ring necessary

An understanding of the minds

aggressively met behind and

beneath the blinds

A takedown without the

authoritative garb

adds to his impressiveness

No pain, no gain

Now home can be a peaceful place

knowing there is somewhere and

someone else he can escape to

who invites in what he stands for

Such magnificent friendly fire
