When Smarts Matter

When Smarts Matter

A Poem by TTBoy28

1580 out of 1600

and it still means little

Daddy genius abandoned the

school he nursed leaving the house

behind to nurse her

Familiar bedfellows they became

for the dormitory lifestyle returned

Only the signs above the door

resembled a normal house

Sometimes,

 I.O.U.s were left

without agreement

Proving that brains were a

 liability

Mother would milk three bulls

at a time on her back

Sugar and Spice became everyone's vice

when Dad left three years

 too soon

And the next room lavished the Chelsea Boys

with more young spunk from a well-endowed

Professor of sexonatrics

than they could gulp in one trial

A sweet lesson in survival

 Perfection is unnecessary for

what is meaningless

Welcome back, Dad

We've been waiting for you

.
. heartbreaking ... and can't forget this one line ever ... "perfection is unnecessary for what is meaningless" ... i can't tell begin to tell you how profound that is ... and how much i can relate to this ...
