You know me

When you look in the mirror

and stare or smile or

twist or flex

You know me

Though the chance was never there

for us to accept each other

as a path was already paved for you

mine was uncertain

Stood a soul who pointed to a belly

that swallowed the whale with as much

fear as Daniel had in the lion's den

feeling the presence and the power

 of God

Standing tall

yet, vulnerable, broken,

outside

carrying what was inside

You know me

Passed off as another's

holding hands with a brother's who

 may not know me either

But that's okay

For if I were to go it alone

and I did fall and bounce and fall

 again and again and I screamed and yelled

for somebody to tell me to guide me

away from mischief and scorn

and to tell me about why the birds

needed the bees and why I needed

 a spanking rather than a beating by my

own blood

instead of somebody who wanted me

gone

You know me

And birthdays came and went

And foreign unions made with me

Life hit me with minor delights

but the plights made me see sights

through mentally made up lights

that were not really mine

and I felt that someday

You would know me

What she carried I felt

Left to fend for myself

all others paths and destinations known

They forgot about me

 They forgot me

But now You know me

I still carry everything

and though I did not join you on your journey

 I still join you in blood

the same way your heart beats
