They Don't Know You Without Your Suit On

They Don't Know You Without Your Suit On

A Poem by TTBoy28

The pleasantries have all
been made
Desk large crafted of the best
wood money can buy
The air of confidence
Power
Serenity almost insubordinate
to the Almighty
An under the chin chuckle
after a plea
A resounding "We're sorry"
though careful to not utter
"I'm sorry"
Just as the law is stated
the reversal of fortune
brings forward what sat
comfortably behind stroking and
patting the bulbous pine
without the shellac it rewarded
itself with
for standing prouder, longer
than the rest
Unsuited
whimper minus the chuckle
begging for recognition
Save the smile that accented
the bloody tie
that held up your head
But they don't know you
 without your suit on
to them
you are just like them
Now
