The $20 Promise

The $20 Promise

A Poem by TTBoy28

Darkness falls over words spoken

The Queen of deception chastises any who defy

False hope is her best product

Tame is the offspring drowned in fool’s gold

Yet still gold to them save the eyelashes and royal

 Beat-downs self-esteem demolished

But the fool’s gold falls over darkness

No pity for the Queen who not by happenstance

sleeps with both eyes open until her name is called

the one she created for herself

A blood money cross purchased in the name

 of Christ

fails to remain flat on her chest as if trying to

abandon the flashy rope that serves as gravity

Be it as royal as she

everyday is a masquerade ball and she the only

one with no tear on their mask

Her custom-made guillotine stands above

the cake she offers her seeds that bloom from her love

though the sun has to be forced in for cultivation

Dare one seed nudge another to entice its sprouting

Oh Mirror, Mirror doth tell her all

Fear is instilled in the minds of Fall

Wonderful. A great write. It seemed slightly disjointed at times, I found myself tripping. Bu this is probably due to my own incompetence, so no worries. I love the " sleep with one eye open until her name is called" line. Very powerful.
