after listening to the right words, you'll get the right ideas.

it told me, what i need to hear

no more and no less.

so now i spread its word

and please no protest

its a message that goes unknown

and untitled just for you

and yes my friends,unfortunetly

its true.

we are as we think we are

we go far as we see

told to be ourselves

and grab originality

but some fade in the wake

left behind from self inhibition

no matter how far we go

no matter the sights we see

we are still victims

of our own originality

by doing the right things all the time

always following society

we fade into statistics

and yes i see,

people following their dreams

its what they were told to be

from themselves, from others

but you dont hear me.

by saying do what you feel is right

i encourage what they say

its hard to decide

in just 1 day

whether you ignore the noise

and go with your heart

or play safe with their words

and live close to where you start

we go to collage, to the university

we live in our houses, and be happy

but still live in others light

where we cant see

trying to be classic we become an unoriginal

as others do the same,

people do this day by day, 

much too many to name.

Author's Note

I guess what I'm trying to say is that being ourselves is still much like conforming. Many people do it, we go off to get an education, get a job, live in a nice house, doing things our way, but its all just the same. everyone does it. being yourself is acting like everyone else.

I couldn't agree more! It's like...when someone comes up with a really effective technique to better their progress in whatever. They come up with it, they tell someone else, they tell someone else, they tell someone else, and soon everyone knows it! The awesome technique that put that person above everyone else is now common practice, and now the inventor is at the same skill level as when he created the technique, but so is everyone else! The original becomes the norm.
