God never told me

God never told me

A Poem by Tariq

God never told me what to do

Even when I prayed

I tried to hear an answer

And so I waited.

They say that the answers are inside of us

But I can’t find anything inside but

An unfulfilled dream and a dead desire

I spend the day

Wondering where is the answer

To the unasked question

The question that swirls in my head

Why am I here?

Ask people and they don’t know

Or even if they do

It’s all a distorted image of life

Or may be that’s the truth

Nothing called love and nothing called kindness

May be they’re the weapon of the weak

And may be they’re the specters of the light.
