![]() View the Real YouA Poem by T. Edana TalbottLittle darling, there’s a place for you off of this stage, No need to play like a doll each day, Go ahead and wipe that plastered smile off your face. It’s okay, it’s okay. You’re all dirty inside and out, no need to hide, What it is you’re about; The crowd is gone and they’ve said so long, They won’t be back ‘til sunrise, To watch with glee, your reprise. Quit speaking your pretty words, There’s no such thing as the perfect sentence; So talk about your issues and thoughts on religion, Be as improper and incorrect, it’s your decision. Unless you prefer being their puppet, Just go on and say f**k it! Watch them gasp in horror, As you laugh with glee, They’ll view the real you, And won’t like what they see. But you don’t live for them, do you? You’re no movie, this is no sneak preview. The bible tells you what to do, But you’re no saint, if only they knew - Should they dissect your brain, How gross it would be, To view the real you. At least that’s what they try and say, See, it’s just their way, To subdue you - the real you. They suffocate your reality, And douse your flame out, With fantasy; it’s a travesty. Such a tragedy... © 2016 T. Edana TalbottFeatured Review
