How to make your own character

How to make your own character

How to Make Your Own Character(s)!

There are a lot of things I’d like to say about making your own characters which are not only lengthy but are also filled with egocentric insight, but that is not fun; instead I’ll leave you all with a simple thought instead. Characters, in the Writing Game, are treated more as abstract personalities beneath the whim of their characters rather than concrete sheets of statistics at the mercy of dice rolls. That in its self should be a hint already. THERE IS NO DICE in the Writing Game, just lots and lots of writing.

The Steps to Making Your Character!

Step One: FOLLOW THE FORMAT BELOW!

Name: [The name is a very important aspect of your character. It not only identifies your character and sets him or her apart from the rest as an individual, but the name is also one of the devices which reflect who a character is. This could be because the character has grown to define the name or the character has chosen to be defined by the name. This name, however, should be conceived of plausible means. If the character’s ethnic culture is Japanese, it would be odd to call him Adolf or Ezekiel is it not, so keep that in mind.][Also, the name must be your character’s true name, the name your character has accepted as his or hers forever. It may change, but only in terms of nicknames or aliases, in the end, the name accepted and owned is still the true name. Everything else is silly, wishful, or deceitful whim.]
Date of Birth: [For your date of birth, try to use the calendar recommended by your birth place or allegiance, or better yet, just use the Modern Julian Calendar we people IRL are using.][I haven’t actually made any special calendars yet so if you have a suggestion, go ahead, but for now just use standard Julian.]
Place of Birth: [State the Allegiance of your birth, Marxbruder, Federation, Sphere, Kingdom, or Sol.] I haven’t actually made any listings of the places that exist in the Far, Far Future so just use this for now to depict the general territory of where your character was born and to what automatic allegiance your character adhered to as a child.]
Blood Type: [Common or Uncommon, choose one.][This is my rendition of blood types. I listed them as common and uncommon for now as I don’t want to swamp anything with mindless rigidity. Consider this nothing more than flavor in case you might need to give your blood away, or get eaten.]

Step Two: KNOW YOUR ASPECTS!
[The Writing Game uses the following markers as an objective reminder of how well your character would respond to situations which call for physical, mental, and spiritual actions. Keep in mind though, that as much as you would like to design the greatest character there is, a beginner like you would still be an average human being unless you are willing to take on the role of a Project. Keep this in mind, to be a Project is more of a curse rather than a blessing and that aspect of Dreamkiller will be depicted without any punches pulled. For further explanations, please read up on Aspects at The Game System section of The People’s Resources.]

Body: [This aspect of your character should be about a paragraph worth of physical features which help form a stable and clear image of how your character looks when devoid of outward accessories like clothing. This would also include any scars, tattoos, or special marks which help to define your character’s image even more. Also, keep it in mind that this is not a marker of how powerful you are in doing physical actions. As far as The Writing Game is concerned, all are equal of mind, body, and soul and training is the only marker of objective inequality.]
Mind: [This is not the measurement of how powerful your character’s mind power is. It is instead the very psychology, the personality, of your character which should describe in a paragraph or more the likes, dislikes, the quirks, and especially the mannerisms of your character. Aspects are an important part of The Writing Game system so please do treat this matter with respect as it would be of great help to you as you roleplay and push your character along the road of life.]
Soul: [This is the aspect of your character which in one paragraph explains what your character actually, really, believes in. These might be the kind of matters which your character might be open or secretive about; what should be constant here though is that everything you place here must be true. True, it could be that in time your character will change, but so will every other aspect! The Writing Game has provisions for this too, it’s called development. As time goes by your character will change and in every moment where he has changed there will be something called a compendium which will be used to track those changes from the day of your character’s Canon birth to the day of Canon death. Consider this a fun way to connect with your character even more as time passes and as sort of a scrap book when you feel like looking back in nostalgia. This also includes the character’s own ambitions.]

Step Three: KNOW WHERE YOU STAND!

Ethnic Origins: [This is the ethnic descent of your character. Examples of which include Anglo-Saxon, African American, Norman, Frank, and so on and so forth. Consider this the objective description of your character’s gene pool which may reflect on your Body Aspect but will not meddle with the chances of your character’s descent conflicting stereotypical appearances. Also, Projects are considered to be Ethnic Origins so do consider that when you create your character. Also, Ethnic Origins is just a formal way to say race, not specie, because Dreamkiller is a single specie game. We are all completely human.]
Starting Belief System: [Consider this a marking of the Religion you character is a part of strictly on government paper. Belief Systems are rather complicated topics, too complicated to be fully and justly explained in this article. Belief Systems shall instead be tackled in The World section of The People’s Resources.]
Starting Allegiance: [This is where your character’s official loyalties lie. Allegiances, like Belief Systems are complicated matters also as they would need some understand in order to help form your decision on where to place your character on the continent and political setting of Dreamkiller. It will be fully discussed in The World section of The People’s Resources.]
Starting Faction: [This is where your character’s official activities, obligations, and intentions lie. Please read up on Factions in The World section to as factions may be a simpler matter proper understand is still a must.]
Starting Role: [The Writing Game will not use a skill system in order to depict the kind of training a character has gone through. Instead, the Writing will use the Role System as it incorporates not only career training but also the experiences that a certain character has in the world. Thus, the role is actually split into two things. First, there is Education; and second, there is experience. Education is what your character was trained to do before he was born as a character for you to play with. That would be called his Starting Role. These starting roles come from a diverse range of professions that survive in Dreamkiller. They will be depicted four possible ranks of mastery, Novice, Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master. What should be understood here is that these ranks aren’t marks of the amount of training you have received within that role, but the experience your character has earned as a professional of that role. It is here that equality among character can now be explained to you in its basic form. The role also includes your character measurement of income and ready wealth.]
Starting Training: [Starting Training would instead be the list of additional education modules your character has learned or acquired as he lived inside Dreamkiller. These packages are usually related directly to your role, but it is also possibly that they be introductory courses into other roles as a character can be trained in more than one profession. The only question there is mastery. Also, Training Modules outside of Roles could also be specialization packages meant for educating certain roles. Keep this in mind.]
Life before Dreamkiller: [This is where the experience appears in its full narrated form. It is here where you will place your character’s starting locations, memories, background material on family and relationships, and even could be a chronological work of prose of everything that has happened to the character before he arrived in Dreamkiller. The bare minimum I would require of you would be about four paragraphs worth of well written biography.]

Step Four: ASSERT YOURSELF!

Now all I need are some comments from you on the kind of role-playing you would enjoy participating in, the kind of goals you would wish to see achieved inside the continent of Dreamkiller and what you would expect from this game. Also, use this as a chance to get to know the people that will be in charge of not only judging this sheet but also moderating your stories as moderation assignment here isn’t based on location but on plots unfolding.
