Ignorance

Ignorance

A Poem by TelamVitae
"

A reflection on the guilt of knowledge and the bliss of ignorance.

"
Ignorance is bliss
When you don't know
People need help

Ignorance is bliss
When you can't realize
That you are
Unable
To help everyone

That you can't help
Anyone
And you must
Walk
Away from another human being

That if you help one
It feels
Unfair.

If you help one
You must help all

And so you walk away...

Ignorance is bliss
When you don't realize
That
You may have just
Killed
Someone
By walking past.

Ignorance is bliss
When you can't understand
That
You are condemning someone
Acting
As if they don't deserve
The help they need.

Ignorance is bliss
When you don't cry
About
How you can't trust
If someone is lying to you
About what they need.

In a world without honor
Without trust
Without sense

We walk away
From heaven

And slide down the railing
To hell.

All because of
Ignorance.

All because we’re
Ignorant.

But you won’t say so.
You won’t admit it,
That you won’t help,
Because you’re scared,
You’d rather help none,
Than feel the guilt of tipping the balance,

Because
You’re ignorant,
I'm ignorant.
So is everyone else.

We’re all
Ignorant,
And if we aren’t,
We want to be.
