Monotony

Monotony

A Poem by TelamVitae

Same thing every day,
Walking on a blank plain,
Blank words from a blank face.
I dreamed of being something else,
But fell when I saw
Someone better than me,
Even though they did nothing.
I had such high expectations
So I never thought I was enough,
Jumping from shadow to shadow
Always beneath someone else.
Same thing every day,
Writing on a blank page,
Trying to make something meaningful,
But failing,
In my eyes.
I dreamed of trying so much harder,
But I never could stop being lazy.
Just because it was a little hard,
I did nothing.
I had such high expectations,
But I never met a single one.
I always sat,
In front of half done project after project,
All of them
Thrown away
All of my work
Gone to waste.
Same thing.
Every day.
I cannot be original.
I think of something I’m proud of,
Then realize where my inspiration was.
Same thing.
Every day.
Same me.
Same way.
Never change.
Never improve.
That is what I do.

One of favorite things about things about this piece is that doesn't rhyme. Which is so refreshing. I love the honesty it shares. Solid idea nicely executed.
Keep Writing!
