et in mundo conversatus

et in mundo conversatus

A Poem by Melinda
"

It means "He as man, with man conversing" .. taken from the latin hymn 'Pange Lingua' meaning "sing, my tongue".

"

"Oh what a beautiful day"
The wind sings hollow like angels,
The steady rhythm taps on my head,
I close my eyes and imagine snakes
Winding their way down the back of my shirt
Coming together as pools at my feet.

"Life is beautiful" the angels sing
With lungs that never breathed,
With feeling in hearts that never beat.
I stare out into the rain distracted
By the throbbing of an empty spot
Inside the bone-cage of my ribs.

"Pange, lingua, gloriosi," they sing.
(Sing, my tongue, the Savior's glory,)

"Not today, I am selfish and human"
I wave them off and shake my head.
"Tantum ergo Sacramentum",
(Down in adoration falling,)
"Maybe tomorrow, but for now
I want dry knees, and wet feet".

this is positively beautiful...the language is compelling...stellar work...no transition needed...regardless of understanding the vibe is felt..

What a wonderful write! I love a poem that makes one think about what it means to be human, and this one has a lil bit of a stubborn streak , my fav lines in this: (which is pretty much the whole thing ..lol)
close my eyes and imagine snakes
Winding their way down the back of my shirt
Coming together as pools at my feet.

"Life is beautiful" the angels sing
With lungs that never breathed,
With feeling in hearts that never beat.

"Not today, I am selfish and human"

Very interesting poem and it flowed nicely. It did make me think about the human and God relationship. T

About
Everything I told you about myself is terribly outdated. In my own defense I'm just lousy at keeping in touch. P.S. I love you (giggle) more..

Cold, Man. Cold, Man.
