The race

The race

A Poem by Terra Bendite

The engine revs

the smell of gasoline fills the air

the track ready for cars to race

as the countdown starts

people wait and see

while having snacks in their laps

as the countdown hits one the cars race

blurs of colors across the track

people cheering while I sit watching

a bright race car starts passing

then it suddenly starts to turn left and right

trying to straighten itself

but it didn’t succeed

I watch as the car hits the others

it starts to do a barrel roll

everybody is silent waiting to see if the driver is okay

as the cars stop an ambulance drives across the track

and people pull the driver out of the battered car

the audience watches as the injured driver goes on a gurney into the ambulance

I never forgot that sad tragic day

when my father was sent to the hospital

in a coma

That speaks a lot. Nothing can be worse than this. Good job speaking with feelings, and pouring emotion into your work. I like it, keep it up! :)
