Autumpne

Autumpne

A Poem by Texas
"

Take a guess at what this poem's about. Or you can get a dictionary..... It's one of my favourite seasons.

"

Autumnus.

You know it's here.

You can smell it in the air.

You see the leaves change and fall,

You see the grass stop growing

  Readying for its Winter sleep.

You can feel it at the high school football games,

As you cheer and scream your alma mater on to victory,

With hopes of State this year.

You can taste it in the early morning,

When you go out with the dog.

And you can hear it in the air on a Saturday afternoon,

As you walk through the dancing leaves.

And in the late afternoon,

  Laying on the couch,

With the dog at your feet

And a cat in your lap

And a journey in your hands,

You breath the cool crisp air gently flowing in,

  Through the open windows,

And you feel at peace.

At night, even by the flickering glow of battery candles, there's the sense of Fall.

The change in the air.

The change in the leaves.

The change in people's personalities.

Autumn.

Author's Note

Texas
Not bad for a poem written in about ten minutes or so, I guess. It's Autumn, though my fingers and toes say Winter. Autumpne is Middle English from Latin Autumnus hence Autumn, aka: Fall. Thank you Webster's! :)
