The Heart's Laws of Distance

The Heart's Laws of Distance

A Poem by Creepy Swine Guy

The intervening land miles are constant,

three, three hundred, perhaps three thousand.

But the distance is not nearly so constant.

How does one calculate? How does one gauge

the distance. Close enough to caress a hand, or

a desert apart and going in different directions?

The math of human relations is perverted.

Yesterday's formulas, now melted into absurdity.

Human relations have but one valid formula.

The average length of spoken replies is

inversely proportional to the distance

one chooses to keep between you two.
