York

York

A Poem by TheJordBaker

I was set on fire, she was bleak,
but I warm amidst her chill.
Antagonising; what it means,
even the blind can see in dreams.
In my own I can fly.
Fog frozen in lantern light
and I know.

Stars above us cease to shine,
kissing under wind turbines.
Black shadows in the yellow clouds;
lovers’ artistic image drowns.
I kiss her neck, my lips turn ice;
Suburban tundra stretch for miles
and I know.

Forest leaves are trod to ash,
Autumn falls and strips the branch.
Brave face and floor soon to meet;
we fell in love close on the beach
and then you broke my heart in York.
City skyline and the moonlight talk
and you know.

I kiss her neck, my lips turn ice - love this line!
You voice is so subtle in this poem yet the message is loud and clear.
One of my absolute favorites.
