A Poem by TheJordBaker
"

I wrote this last September in one sitting on my way to work as I pondered why it was so hard to speak about mental illness even with those you love. Written with musical tone in mind, unshared again.

"
God bless your wings
They embrace me and keep my demon at bay;
They're golden and their shine keeps me safe.
Maybe they'd still love me the same
But all I can give you is 'I'll be okay'.

God damn my dreams
And God damn this way.
All I can do is feign through the pain
And hold you tightly until it starts to fade.
God bless your wings
They'd leave you and they'd fly away
If I told you what I wanted to say.

God damn the illness, but God bless those who understand and have the wings of an Angel to abide.
And yet, yes....the wings perhaps would leave if the subject of the poem would speak his mind...and yet, real love would abide that as well.
