Tragedy

Tragedy

A Poem by Lydia

She looks at herself in the mirror

Her appearance growing thinner and thinner

She sobs as it begins to get clearer

That death will surely be the winner

They diagnosed her with it only months ago

Her mother cried in an instant

Her father tried not to show

The feelings bottled up within him

It came by surprise

No one would have ever guessed

That a girl with such a beautiful life

Would be facing such an untimely death

She left her family behind at such a young age

Her friends and family gathered

To release the doves from their cage

In honor of the girl whose beautiful life shattered.
