When I Die

When I Die

A Poem by Lydia

When I draw in my last living breath

Lay me down in the field where the roses grow

Beside the crystal clear water that peacefully flows

Fold my ivory colored hands over my motionless chest

Place a blood red rose between my cold, blue fingers

Make sure my weathered lace gown fits just right

And that there are no creases, folds, or wrinkles in sight

In the crisp morning air my silvery, soft-spoken voice will linger

Make sure that everyone is silent, and the timing is just so

I want the sun to be setting as you reluctantly abandon my still body

I want your final goodbyes to be unique so no one may copy

Please fulfill my wishes for this is the way I want to go

Also, please don't shed a tear on that deceitful day

For I am merely closing my tired eyes and going to sleep

You shouldn't be mournful just because my young heart ceases to beat

I want you to be joyful for I will no longer feel the pain

So  now that the sky has turned shades of oranges and pinks

Keep in your mind that this is the last thing I want to see

I beg for you to make and keep this most important promise to me

And in the glorious river is where I want my peaceful corpse to sink

"Fold my ivory colored hands over my motionless chest"-- wonderful imagery. The poem overall is beautiful, and I love the rhyme scheme you used here. It works well. :) Well done!

That is. . . amazing. The only thing you may want to look at is keeping the fourth stanza with the rhyme scheme the other stanzas follow. All in all that was an awesome, emotional, deep poem.
