![]() Goodnight, MotherA Poem by Lydia![]() This is not about me!![]() A picture of you hangs above my bed It's the last thing I see every night You're smile lingers over my slumbering head And is the first thing in the morning that comes into sight
You're picture means the world to me If only you could really be here I could show you how well I'm doing with my poetry You would hug me and say, "It's lovely, my dear."
You're beautiful picture is the last thing I have Of a mother whose love was so easily shown To her daughter that misses her and is extremely sad That her mother's chance of life was blown
She will forever live on in my heart I will never forget her no matter what Of my life she will always be a part Out if it she cannot be cut
So, as I lay my head down to go to sleep It still doesn't feel quite right In my mind memories of you begin to creep To your picture I whisper, "I love you, mother, goodnight." © 2012 LydiaAuthor's Note
