i won't again

i won't again

A Poem by m.s.early
"

famous last words

"

if i let them back in

open the latchkey

no merry men

no merry women we'll see

better they behind

the fragile film skin

ego shifting benign

no, i won't again

but this i won't eat

simply stated fact

someone badly beat

not expected back

stale tasteless lie

frenzied bland device

forgiven it is i

no not once but twice

twelve is a cycle

seven it completes

if tarried but a trifle

liable lose your seat

chaos and iniquity

if i let them back in

denial is not safety

no, i won't again

I may not get exactly what you are feeling in this write, but I did relate to this personally.
Just because "they" have forgiving you and even if you have forgiven "them", it is not safe or rational to allow destructive people of influences back into your life. This is not being unforgiving. This is not holding a grudge. This is not being hard or cold or any number of negative labels I often feel and see people using...
It is OK to wall some people out. It is OK to shut some doors and leave them shut!

Yet... it seems far too often we open the door just for a peak at "what if" and the monsters invade again.

Thank you David. You pretty much got it. But it doesn't always have to be people. :)

m.s. early,
"I won't again"
"Better they behind the fragile film skin, ego shifting benign. No, I won't again." This phrase is a lesson to all of us. Protect these hearts which hold our very essence. Continue the process of growth and maturity; leaving past pain, bad choices, bad experiences behind. Move forward. Move forward.
Great poem!!
Blessings,
Kathy

We step out and in... we live through, with and for people... We don't eat the lies yet we chew them and munch them out... beaten and tasteless... we feel pain and woebegone and we forgive till we feel pain again... I am numb... your words are strong enough to numb me man...
three is a heavenly number... divine I may say. And four is the earthly of everything that is organic... now twelve is the product of them both and seven is the addition... The cycle has taken me far away... so far away.

Wow. After reading your work I am speechless at such a compliment. Respectfully.
A powerful depiction and a great play on words....

Until the desire takes over and one gives in........best to steer clear..

Brilliant poem... :)
