War's Loss

After witnessing some of the events in Ukraine I wrote this poem

War is a force that tears us apart A destructive power that eats at the heart It leaves behind a trail of death and pain And leaves us all with nothing to gain

In war, we see the worst of humanity As brother turns against brother, with no immunity The ground is stained with blood and tears As friends and family are lost, through the years

War is a monster, with no end in sight It feeds on hatred, and feeds on our fright It leaves behind a world of misery and loss And makes us all pay a terrible cost

So let us strive for peace, in all we do And put an end to war, before it consumes us too.
