Chicken Scratches!

An Inspirational Poem!

Through out the day and even

in the middle of the night

Ideas for my next poem are

forming in my mind

 

I scramble for pen and paper

and try to scribble down

What could be a keeper or in

the end become a frown

                                                                    

Such is the life of a poet I

have come to realize

I have long past given up on

asking myself why?

 

Why was it my destiny to be

affected by all things?

Why do poetic thoughts search

me out, even in my dreams?

 

I'm careful, as my notes reviewed

reveal a poem just like that

In my haste and sleepiness they

often become chicken scratches
