Place of Birth

Place of Birth

A Poem by C Peril

Your place of birth
By the mouth of a mighty, grey river
Meandering on and out
Forever

Tides till the solemn
fields, feeding and frothing
Never stopping
No one; no how

A sobering solidity
that could be suffocating
If it weren't for
family fires

Friendly

burning in safety

Against the black night
and the cold, cold waters
