Heatwave

Heatwave

A Poem by C Peril

Melting morosely, my city mumbles
in speech bubble increduility
Offended by God's failure to turn
the bloody Oven off

The blue sky of belched out
carbon concentrates the wretched rays
Daggers of light ignite the windows
the walls The "I'm done with it Alls"

Deck chair weather Dress code
teathers you up in suit and tie
Homeworking, sweaty gherkin
Trying to focus on a spreadsheet

While the walking legs of wonderful
maidens provide potent distraction...
craving interaction

But I'm staying inside
Better that than being baked alive

The imagery of this one captures the situation for large parts of the world today. Where I live, it was 94 degrees and humid, but I'm sure others had it worse. I'm staying inside, too, walking legs be damned.
