"Drinkin and Dreamin"

A Poem by Tommy
"

On Tap #1

"

Give me a poor man's vacation

I said to the bottle

As I crawled into its sanctuary

Escaping the troubles at hand

They say, "Time heals all wounds"

Well I've been restrained for a time

Only to still feel the pain

Caused by the sobering of mind

I get my release from you Jim

Or by means of your sibling

Black Labeled Jack

Stumbling drunk away from past

Seemingly deluding the troubles of life

So I'll take what some say, "Is the easy way out"

And partake of your drink

To incapacitate bygones ever last

When you're a heavy drinker, it doesn't take much of an excuse to get drunk. I used to think it dulled the pain and made life bearable, but really, it just made everything worse. Now I'm a one drink drinker.

Compelling work...retreat to the bottle escaping the hammers of life...never a permanent fix...but a helpful patch.

Great work here!

the only way out of the pain is to walk with it (without complaint)...sometimes for years
