The Nightingale's Lament

The Nightingale's Lament

A Poem by Ana
"

This poem is about a poet who watches a nightingale looking for it's food, a morpho butterfly. But in the end it returns, saddened because it didn't get any food.

"
Oh, little nightingale, where do you go?
Your wings the shade of sapphire spread so wide
With your tail following the wind with pride
Do your eyes look for a small blue morpho?

You roam the snowy and tall mountain peaks
Among the tall and leafy canopy
As if a phoenix in a fantasy
Spreads the fire of strength over sads and weaks

You look so merry, cutting through a cloud
A star amidst the gloom of misery
Above the frozen lake so silvery
Your dainty head held up so high and proud

But little nightingale, you look so grieved
Have not a small blue morpho you retrieved?

Author's Note

Ana
I would like readers to review this poem from all aspects. This is my first time in sonnet writing and I'm pretty nervous. So I would really like varied feedbacks so that I can improve more.

Hi, Ana 🌾

Oh-BOY! I'm first to read and review. : )
My name is Richard, and I would first like to extend a warm welcome to the Writer'sCafé.
Next, as a teacher of poetry and Sonnets, I want you to know how very much I have enjoyed your very first Sonnet effort … more resoundingly accomplished than most's.
Your brilliant imagery, powerful metaphor, emotive moment, beautiful line flows, and spot-on rhymes hold the heart in enjoyably appreciative suspension throughout.
A few issues caught my eye I'll gladly share with you on messaging, if you'd like the help.

Love the title, the story, and how it deeply touched my senses.
Thank you ever-so gratefully for sharing, Ana ⁓ Richard🖌
