Compromise

Compromise

A Poem by The Outlaws' Song
"

"I am Romanian and that consumes a lot of my time"

"

You think you're free,

But you are slave to their stupidity.

You think you're well,

But you are ruined by their demagogy.

They sell you lies,

They say transition.

Why can't you see it's their ambition

To call like this our crises?

They want you to choose them

Every time.

But in return they only give you

Promises and lies.

Freedom of speech – You bet you have it!

But only in your mind

Because in real life you are too coward

To say what's wrong or right

You know your rights but you don't know how

To use them for yourself

But every four years you learn how

To use them for their wealth

Voice of rage you hear now screaming

Inside your ignorant mind

Between those cheap market clones – called politicians

Only the best you can't find

You go now and choose the one

That you consider the best

Go and put another straw

To his comfortable nest.

All you have is for today

Cause you never know tomorrow

With them leading you to nowhere

You'll soon see just pain and sorrow

After choosing your "great" leader

You discover he has sins

He loves crimes and assassins

He uses you as toilet paper

Sure, now, you start to scream

That you want another leader

With your friends you make a team

REVOLUTION – is what now the best  you consider.

Hey, you stupid man

Just turn and look behind your back

You are the one who chose those men

Why now you want to break their necks?

I see this is not about America...but boy it sure could/should be. I don't want to diminish the seriousness of what's going on in your country...as I am regretfully ignorant to much of what goes on outside my little world...but it seems to me that most countries are in ruin, in one way or another. Be it economically, spiritually or otherwise. I too am ready for rebellion. Of course, it must begin with me. If I want to make my country a better place...I have to first make myself a better person. And I'm having a hell of a time with that!!! I long for revolution in America...because I believe I can see our future and it looks very, very bad. The sad thing is....this country has done such a great job at allowing the drugs in and the guns out...to finance other peoples wars that suited our interest. Drug us all....with illegal drugs...with television....with political SPIN...with -as you said- promises and lies. It's a shame that people who can't control themselves seek to control others. In the end....we're all gonna die, and most likely, we won't have deserved it.

I loved your description of the piece - that set up the tone quite effectively. What is must be to be Romanian....you had me wondering right from the start. And as I read each seething line I felt more and more that we are of the same cloth. We want what's right. This has just prompted me to quote an old Black Sabbath song "If there's a God up there, I hope he helps me....I need him now to set me free." I'm not trying to get religious here...cuz I'm not religious...but often I just wish some miracle would set us all free. Because even over here - in "the land of the free and the home of the brave"....I still feel a bit like a rat in a cage. Am I unAmerican? NO. I'm anti-polititians.

Excellent piece...the wrath does wring forth in all it's fury. Well done.
Oh - and the part about picking the leader.....makes me think of another quote by I don't know who...most likely some comedian....about how in America we get two choices for president....but 50 for Miss America. How utterly ridiculous.

I hope things work out for you over there...thanks for giving me a glimpse past my little world.
Peace~~

I love the title, "Compromise". It has a lot of depth to it. I don't know if you're talking about the U.S. here, but my thoughts are things are going for the worst right now. There is an inclination to recession right now in the U.S. and we are suffering bec. of the poor choices that our officials at times make. They need to be in the sole (soul) of our shoes to understand how much we are suffering. In fact, they need to step up to the plate and consider us "the people". Anyhoot, the U.S. despite it's flaws has a lot to give, and by becoming participant and a "voice" can make a difference. xxoo, mishy, :P

A good look at the lies and deceit behind the politial scenes that is always brought out like yesterday's garbage for all to eventually view. Many time the followers are just as crooked. Your poem is full of insight and emotion and is very well written!

Finally a flaw. lol. When I read pieces like this, I must look at my own life, and the lives I know from other countries, where your poem would lie by your head. I won't get into a big politcal debate, and I will not give you a low rating for seeing America different. I only think of the millions who risk their lives to reach these evil shores. Very passionate and well intentioned write. I read to feel after I've read, and I feel. Rain..
