Will we march?

Will we march?

A Poem by Tiffani (Chase) Miller

He was only 33

He lived in poverty

He gave endlessly

He helped a grieving father

He was publicly ridiculed

When will we march?

Beat with whips so hard that they engraved His skin

Tore his flesh from his bones

Stuck to the threads of the whip

He was innocent

And sentenced to life

When will we march?

People talked about Him

Made fun of Him

Bullied Him

Made rumors and gossip

Overanalyze and underestimate

Say one thing when His presence is in the room

But wait till He leaves

Only call when they want something

Bash Him if He doesn’t instantly come through

He suffered His whole life on our behalf

When will we march?

When will we hold holy hands in unison?

With candlelight visuals

When will we stand as one body  & one member

And not be too sanctified to be in unison?

We march for breast cancer, when He is a healer

We march for injustice, when He is the only true judge

We march for our troops, when He is the peacemaker

But for Him we just don’t

We took Him out of  our schools but He’s a teacher

We removed Him from Christmas and He is the reason

We worship in a house of prayer

But won’t publicly pray for our food and He is the provider

The world is full of the worldly ways

And we stand behind robes and church fans

Saying Halleluiahs and Amen’s

But faith without action is dead

This world is sick, if you’re a believer it is your job

Your purpose, to spread the good word

We hold up skittles in memory of

Amber alerts for the lost

But when will we march to get back all our lost souls?

Or are we too scared of this world?

We’re too scared to die

Because we don’t understand what it truly means to live

As His child

So religious, we have no religion

And if we marched

We would have to start in our backyard

Very poignant and emotional write - indeed when will we march? Perhaps the first step begins in our own heart and with forgiveness in our shoes! :-)
