Torment

Torment

A Poem by Tina Kline

I haunt
the dark places
the shadowy recesses
of my tormented mind.
The sun always arrives
eventually
no matter how hard
I try to hide.
Cloudy days
endless evening tide
they don't last
forever.
I creep about
fugitive that I am
trying to prevent the sun
from even sighing upon me.
In the night I am free.
My pale face
luminous like the moon
on a weaker night
as I haunt
ghost like
forever seeking
a peace
I shall never have.
And it's even too late for me
to feel sad.

Gloomy and eerie with a deep sense of sadness. I like the lines 'cloudy days -endless evening tide - they last forever', I get a sense of deeper meaning behind that. To mean it meant the darkness, not matter its source, doesn't last forever. It this context it works for me. Gives a unique feel to the poem. Love this dark poem.

Long since I read a 'Dark' poem and a poem with such corresponding personification. I found only glitch - 'Endless evening tide' and 'They don't last forever'? :) Other than that, this a wonderful nocturnal piece of craft. Do keep writing. :)
