The Beast

The Beast

A Poem by Tobias Ådin
"

A euphemism for anxiety.

"
It strikes when you least expect it.
Before a meeting,
When meeting a friend,
Or even when going to the store.
The beast is relentless in its pursuit.
It won't rest until it feeds.
It feeds on your fears,
Your worries,
Your panic.
Sometimes it's whispering in your ear,
Causing you to doubt yourself.
Other times it sits heavily on your chest,
Messing with your breathing.
No matter how it goes about,
It is always with you.
You're never alone,
Even on good days.
It haunts you,
It feeds on your fears and worries.
It's insatiable,
And it won't stop.
The Beast is with you all the time.
You're never alone...
