A Decree from the Cosmos

And you shall love

And you shall love with all your heart 

and all your soul and all your might

And you shall love when you lie down

When you rise in the morning

And you shall love every time you walk through an open doorway

Through the gates of your house 

And you shall love

You shall love every moment you walk beside them

Every dream they leave in their wake as they walk on beside you

And you shall hate yourself for loving

But you’ll love

You shall love because I have told you you should love

Because you know that I have sculpted you

 so your lungs ache for more than oxygen 

And your heart seems full to bursting

And you’re scrambling on the edge of a cliff

Tiptoeing the abyss because you know the only way to stay alive is to step off the bridge

But danger rushes through your veins and your heart is just out of reach 

And you shall love it

And you shall lie

And you shall cheat 

And you shall hate 

Because love is learned and hate is taught

Do you understand me?

Do you understand that you are made of clay and rocks and bones and blood

And the world has too much information for you to possibly comprehend 

And I know that you love it 

Because I told you to love it

Do you understand me?

Do you understand that I am truth

And I am god

And I am irony 

And I am the cosmos sweeping through your veins

And do you understand you are made of science and stardust and rot

And you writhe and call it dancing as the world spins

And do you understand why you love?

Mapping it out from the chemicals in your brains 

To the ansestors that came before you

Why do you diminish something so much just because you know why it happens?

And I told you to love

And thus

You shall love.
