The Cover of Night

The Cover of Night

A Poem by Underestimated
"

Had to do this for a writing class I took. It's not my favorite but my teacher loved it. Idk why......

"

I am a thin black veil,

Speckled with sequins shining like polished silver,

Drenched with secrets that hide under the cover of night

Draped across his firmament,

Heavenly wishes falling from my stars.

I perceive with my pearl-lightened eye,

Eerie nightmares searching through the air

The tempting world lies quietly beneath me,

As fireworks explode through my dark fragile fabric,

Flamed bursts of sparking red and white crest through my night

Fateful mysteries hang within me,

God’s song written in my sky,

Darkness is my light

the mention of the mysteries leaves a sense of the otherworldly. upon reflection, the explosion that i imaging would tear through the fragile fabric is moving and fearful. this poem gives depth to an otherwise boring subject. very lyrical. great job!

good poem. I really liked the last line "darkness is my light". I like these type of poems (sad, dark) and that just really stood out. :) I can see why your teacher liked it - great job!
