Daily Agony

Daily Agony

A Poem by Justin Flume

The last industrialized thought hits the floor..

I’m alone again..

Standing beneath the surface of the façade..

Softly looking at all the hopes and dreams..

Smashed on the pavements..

Laughing at me..

A voice in the back of my head screams at me..

“You’ll never learn”

And it’s right..

Always the same dumb mistakes..

Getting hurt..

Getting involved..

And once again..

I’m left crying..

Left dying..

Suffocating slowly within these four walls..

Let it take me now..

Let my voluptuous angel of death sweep me away..

To a better place..

And all that’s left is a cigarette burning out in an ashtray..

You express vulnerability and real poets do just so. I applaud that and much respect. I believe your word choice is that of analytical thinking and this leaves the mystery, that, I as a reader crave. Write on.

I loved the first and last lines of this poem. Both symbolize the ending of something. The end/break of a line already indicates pause so the ellipses are a bit too much, in my opinion. Thanks for sharing!

Coming into contact with our emotions and learning to be coherent about them is the first step in taking control of our lives. Though the ways may be long and windy, its promises of rediscovering self love is real. People will always say the root to all evil is self love.... but this is the 21st century, the only evil here is the fear of what people said before.

I like the flow of thoughts and the visions create by the poem.
"Suffocating slowly within these four walls..
Let it take me now..
Let my voluptuous angel of death sweep me away..
To a better place.."
I like the vision of a burning cigarette at the end of your poem. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
