I can't stand loving you anymore

I can't stand loving you anymore

A Poem by Unloved_kitty
"

You tore my heart out

"

Should I smile cause we're friends,

Or cry cause I know,

That's all we'll ever be,

You know what you're doing to me,

Making me hate myself,

For loving you.

I can't stand loving you anymore,

I'm ashamed that I do,

My friends all say you are leading me on,

I know that,

I know it full well,

Yet I can't seem to get over you.

It's been over a year,

Since I opened my heart,

I thought you would be there,

Feeling my heart with your love,

I just want your love,

To hold hands with you,

To feel your lips on mine.

I'm angry at myself,

I'm angry at you.

Very well done......I like how you organize things and the end comes together nicely.

My thoughts are this:

I think this would read better as prose instead of prose with lines chopped up to make it look like poetry. I know-I know, what makes a poem is subjective and all that.

However, you write this heartfelt plea as if to someone. I suggest you write it like that: a note to someone, maybe a soliloquy to the stars.

Just my opinion.

Poignant, to the bone with the raw honest emotion of your narrator. Beautiful poetic in the contemplation of self esteem and the role it plays with Eros.
