As Shallow as Shadow

Why am I here all alone, yet with you?

I walk and you follow; you mimic me!

You're there and you see my every move.

The dark shade you are makes the light a key.

 

You don't leave my side: I glance and you're there,

Yet the detail you're lacking drives me mad!

Never displaying a thought or a care!

Is it lack of emotion? Or just sad?

 

Though, through light you're the one I always knew,

With fate, you leave me, for your dark dissolve,

In the night, alone, yet with light, anew:

Lose and gain; through life's cycle, you revolve.

 

As shallow as shadow as shadows be,

With people or not, there's just you and me.
