![]() Musings on a MuseA Poem by Dripping Chocolate Madness![]() Shenanigans![]() Another coffee, another spoon Of turbinado, then to my room I take a sip, and watch the moon Waxing from my window Roasted nuts and caramel And Cocoa notes. A lovely smell A hint of spice, perhaps, as well? Only just a hint, though. The moon is dressed in brilliant white Reveling in silver light It's smaller half, hidden from sight ...I think they call that "gibbous". So long ago, so many years... In science class, with plastic spheres Showing how the moon appears And how it becomes hidden I wonder if that's what you'd wear A silvery-white dress so fair In blinding contrast to your hair... Those foaming root beer ribbons And if, like it, you refuse to show Your entire beauty, even though There is no shadow dark enough That you could hide within it A passing car illuminates My chain link fence, and rusted gate It fills me with disgust, and hate I need to leave this city Give me trees, and open sky With lots of stars to track you by Give me Mountains, and valleys wide Just don't give me your pity I'd rather smiles, for they sustain My inner peace, and restore my strength Just send them to the moon, and then He'll send them down to me Send them up in packs of six (Or as many as you wish) I'll take whatever you can dish As long as they're for free I wouldn't have cash, or bartered goods And likely, I'd be in the woods Living on smiles like they were food And drawing nearer to you With pockets full of chocolate bars (Not for eating, because they're yours) Navigating by the stars And the smiling, silver moon But alas, it's here I sit (Unfortunately, for quite a bit) So I'll make do with just your wit And the smiles, as you send them And the games we play Which, I must say... You could win on any day And I love to imagine your grinning face As you make up rules and bend them I hope you check the midnight sky Every evening, and this is why You'll look up one night, and the moon will smile And you'll know I'm on my way So, as the moon rescinds from sight And blackened sky gives way to light I mourn the passing of the night Yet, celebrate the day Because I get to say Good morning
