"Life's Bed"

"Life's Bed"

A Poem by Valentine

       "Life's Bed" *****
Her mind walks through youthful dreams;
With all of her plans and all of life's schemes.
Wondering sadly...where all of the time went?
On whom were those years, foolish spent.

For all of the things, she wanted to be,
Were forgotten, in the truth of a life not seen.
Not a singer, an actress, or writer of songs;
She had accepted daily, whatever came along.

Suppressing the dreams, and facing the strife;
Of life's truths lived...in her  every day life.
Losing a part of herself...along life's way;
Now sitting aged, she longs for the passed days.

When her mind walked in those youthful dreams;
Wishing she had accomplished, some of those things.
Had written that book...or danced on a stage;
Not lain through life, in the hard bed she made.

Old fashion wisdom written in your words.
"Had written that book...or danced on a stage;
Not lain through life, in the hard bed she made."
Old Grandma told me. We make our own bed and must accept it. Thank you dear friend for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Thank you John. The thing is to have enough wisdom to roll over when it gets too lumpy. Kathie

I agree and you are welcome.
Well penned piece on life, love and regrets. I have come to the point of letting regrets go and no matter what the path, as long as I breath I can create a new life and bed to rest my head. Great work and thanks,

superb writing Kathie, it's sad when we have dreams and somehow leave them behind, I know this so well for myself, your poem reflects that so very well :)

There is no sense regretting later on what was fine enough when you made the choice(s)
