A Single Cell.

A Single Cell.

A Poem by Veronica DiMarco

A single cell moving from one space to another,
A moment of awakening, a day of removal.
It must have sensed a friction,
That emotional tie it binds,
Will be removed and never seen.
A momentum of machines,
Everything gone.
An hour or so to encounter,
Every hope disappears.
With a regret to succumb for a lifetime.
An expectant soul, speculating the outside world.
Hopeful of another day.
But dreams come to an end,
To end a souls growing beginning.
A beginning to live.
Then a wave of dismissal,
Utters a sigh of relief.
A prayer answered, even before it was spoken.
A predetermined decision,
To pass on for generations.
A single cell moving from one space to another.
Clinging to a tie that binds.
Together mother and child,
The moment of awakening to the day of removal.
Ready for the beginning of life.

Hi trace sorry for very late reply. I transferred apartment and just about getting things in place. Im still at a cafe... having no wifi yet sucks big time.. LOL!

This poem, I made 8 years ago..., I worked part time as a peer counselor and this girl had opened up to me about her problem being pregnant. she couldn't tell her parents, she and bf wanted to abort the child...she was quite hesitant but welcome the idea. i tried my best to persuade her to not go through with it... when she found out that she was having twins! she asked me to go with her when she told her parents.... minus the bf. they were angry but i kept telling her that her parents had the right to be angry. but I too told her parents that the problem is there--they just have to deal with it... matter of fact. to make a long story short, she and the bf did not get along after that, her parents supported her and she have the twins now, beautiful 8yrs old..and I became their Godmother! ;D
