The Opposite Way

The Opposite Way

A Story by Carla Vicknair
"

A bit of internal dialogue here. Romance.

It's four and I wish you were in my bed, even though I like yours better. I wish you were there because, because when you're next to me I'm usually facing the opposite way. Do you know why? I can turn around for every doubt in every hour and see your face. I like to make sure you're still there; It's hard to believe anyone could be at such peace in a room with only me. I'm not a creepy little doll, so I don't stare. I just turn and turn back. As long as you're there, just as long as you're there. I pull the covers over my shoulders with my back to your chest, and I let my eyelids dance until I fall away.
