It worked out best for the form I did the poem in. I didn't care for any of the synonyms for the word, they simply didn't feel right to me. The word insanity worked well. I didn't use it to say the entire world is mentally lost, it can also mean something that is very foolish or unreasonable. I just think there is a lot of foolishness out there. (like the girl in my daughter's PE class who thinks a half dollar is a .50 quarter or the one in her choir class that thinks there were 5 world wars ... that's insane. And those are only a couple of examples, lol.)

A child of vanity
must be contented
with her insanity
