Parasitic Divide

Parasitic Divide

A Poem by V. P. Trujillo
"

I step up to the mirror and what do I see?

"

Parasitic Divide

I stare into a mirror, pull apart my lip

Inside and on each side, parasites

Just past - my mouth is but a gaping hole

an abyss I will go if avoided

Forbidden to mend

I concede to these infestations of my paradise, for the pleasure in seeking and obtaining pleasure, in a mere moment of indulgence, is greater than a communion with spirit in abstinence - or so tells the fool.
