This Monochromatic World

This Monochromatic World

A Poem by Japanese Cherry

What to do in a world
Dyed only in black and white
With no grey in between
Other hues locked out of sight
Where existence means nothing
And hatreds burn so bright
Where life is just another Hell
And the dark swallows up the light

Despite our desired blindness
Our suffering keeps us all aware
That our world has lost the battle
And left us in despair
Because now all we can so is nought
But just sit there and merely stare
Waiting for a miracle
That we all know is too rare

Life is meaningless and Death is so far away
Happiness is but a myth and love a distant memory
Both so lost and fleeting, never coming down our way
And its so hard to lie when it is so easy to see
How our heads all hang with the weight of all our misery

And despite the beliefs that the world we know is doomed
I can't just sit here and await my destined downfall
The sun still shines and there is the beauty of the moon
So not everything is dead, including the power of us all

Take my hand
Don't be afraid
We'll paint this world in color
And restore it back to the way it was made

We are not yet dead
So take my hand and never let it go
Because in this monochromatic world
Its not so hard to live when we aren't alone
