Just The Same

Just The Same

A Poem by Ian Faraway

I turn my back on humanity

So that they, the reckless

Do not see my tears shed shamefully

To mourn the dearly departed

That born from my own naïveté

And died just the same

The cold winds are unforgiving

Dying out the flames of passion

That once stood higher than a pity king

It use to pluck my heart’s string

With fear and awe just the same

For I am my own keeper

Guarding the growing darkness

That defines me as a dreamer

Keeping what was close

And the pain of losing it closer

Until it grows just the same

Am I truly to blame

For what has become of me?

A shadow made of shame

Hearing my own dreams shatter

With every hesitant roll in Fate’s game

I will roll again just the same

I believe kids today have hard decisions. No easy roads or places to go. I like the tone of the poem. Good thoughts and seeking answers. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
