It's Beauty

It's Beauty

A Poem by Want2Write

You called me beautiful that night I'm not sure you remember,
I admit I questioned why, I was never gonna bring it up because you were riding a high,
we both know those aren't usual and are often a result of something strong and artificial,
you smiled as you lent in for a kiss,I love you but not like this,
the slur of your words and the limp weight of your body, as it took two to get you home that night made me feel sick,
I knew your pain,it was clear to me as you fought to stand in the path of oncoming traffic,
I feared that night, not of you but for you,I heard the desperation and hurt as you begged to go home,
you did not mean your flat, you meant the place we were both raised, so different from here and so far away,
I longed to grant your wish because a part of me had made it mine too,
I left in the early hours of the morning, we are a mirror for the other, I am the feeling and you are the expression,
the stream of tears ran down your face I knew it was just your drunken state, but I too could relate,
I prepare the act, the chill in the air was never between us, it just lingered,
it made the night so beautiful.
