I Miss You

I Miss You

A Poem by Baby Boy

It's been a whole year and yet still ma I cry

As I sit and I ponder why the good people die

Every ounce of the love in my heart comes from you

The sky always seems black and it's no longer blue

Day after day I still try and live life

I laugh and I smile with every strength of my might

Truth is it's a front for I'm messed up inside

My shell is still here yet I don't feel alive

It's so easy to say that you have to move on

And I used to believe that until you were gone

The 20th of March was the last time we spoke

You closed your sweet eyes and you no longer woke

You promised you'd be there on my last birthday

And you were, for I buried you on that dark day

The 27th of March is the reason I cry

It's the day I was born yet the day that I died

So I walk around now with a hole in my heart

And it hurts so damn much that we're so far apart

But I still have the memories of just me and you

For you dwell in my soul ma, and yes that's so true

Your beautiful face is forever in my mind

The only one I knew that was always so kind

You taught me to love and be all I can be

Yes you gave me life and you taught me to see

To see that this life is not promised to us

For the cancer took over and it stole all my trust

So all I can do now is honor your name

And see what you've seen for our eyes are the same

I'm living my life and I need you to know

That my feelings are warm though this world is so cold

I miss you so much and I'll see you again

My mother, my mentor, my very best friend

I know you look down on me all through the night

I still see your beauty although not in sight

Your heart  is inside me and never will die

I'll see you real soon ma, I'll never say goodbye

I wish I could comfort you in some small way for such a devastational loss! Your mother at such a young age taken--she is surely in heaven and enjoying peace and no sickness or pain. May God bless you and give you strength. Your whole poem is complete love and I know your Ma is so proud of this tribute! I'm saving this to my favorites.
Your writing is overflowing with your true love for your mother! This is one of the nicest poems I have ever read.

Very lyrical. This defiantly needs to be read aloud - I'm assuming that it is more powerful with the maker swinging off the words...

thanks for sharing and keep writing :)

Well-written piece. It glides off the page when you read it, and it has true honesty and drips from the heart. It almost seems like a song too. your mother will always be there for you, like a guardian angel protecting your steps...

I am so glad I read this poem. You reinverate how important life is. Take time to love the ones we have here and hold them so close to our heart. I can see, from your pain, when they are gone - the pain is immense. I feel like this poem could be a song, the lines flow so meladicolly. Good write! And by the way, I will pay tribute tomorrow in my mind to your Mother - in remembrance of her passing.

I have that fear that I won't know how to cope without my mum's strength and courage because I feel she carries me in so many ways, gives me the will to go on. I felt your pain, your love, your loss. A loving memory to an obviously loved and cherished mother. My heart goes out to you on this sad anniversary to come. I truly believe she is with you even now. These special souls never leave us. Bless You and you're a beautiful writer. your friend Melanie x

The cadence is really great this work.....I think you should evoca it. Had I not known the context of this grief it still would have resonated with me....for I have been there to. My own mother lost her mother to lung cancer on her birthday.......years later its a day we choose to celebrate....because her life was so much more than the illness--the beauty she brought...the lives she touched had nothing to do with the disease........My blessings to you and yours through this very difficult time........
