The Day the Angels Came

The Day the Angels Came

A Poem by The Warrior Poet
"

This is a from-the-heart thank-you for my sister Jessica and her husband Dave. They drove 9 hours to get to us when they heard that Brandon (my youngest son) had died. I own them everything.

"

The Day the Angels Came

In the darkest hour

of my darkest day

Time stopped.

I would have kept crying

but my tear ducts ran dry

and I couldn’t think

I couldn’t drink or eat.

Nobody

should have their child die.

and Jenniffer and I were in shock.

 We were reminded then

on that darkest day

that God still sends Angels

even if we say that we hate Him.

Even as I was ready to crawl into my own grave,

with no hesitation and a nine hour drive,

in our darkest hours we were blessed

by the love and caring of Jenn’s sister Jess

and her husband Dave.

Time started.

Thank for being there when we needed you the most.

We Love You.

You have captured the emotions quite well indeed. I don't think you can ever fully pen those kind of emotions. God does send Angels we just don't always see them as angels until time has went by. This is a great write about family coming together in the darkest of times. You have done quite well getting your thoughts and your emotions put into this piece

I met a guy in Iraq who's young son had been killed by an IED while playing in a field. I've never seen a look like he had in his eyes when he asked us to kill those responsible. We told him we would try our best but it felt hollow to me.

the first two stanzas/three lines of this poem are incredible and sum up precisely the magnitude of this experience. the last line expresses what happens when fellow survivors arrive. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I cannot even begin to contemplate the amount of pain you have had to endure..My thoughts turn to my own children and this leaves a lump in my throat..but yes I believe to that we have angels walking amongst us..caring, insightful, inspirational people who touch us when we need it the most..we can never understand someone else's destiny..but your son obviously made all the impact on the world he needed to..and returned to the spiritual realm of the absolute..my condolenses for you loss ..

That is beautiful...I have many regrets...one is being so far away that I haven't been able to be there for my family.....

I am sorry for your loss, and I am happy that in a time of need someone stepped up. It's even more impressive that it was a sister, and someone so close. Beautifully written and well executed.

In response to the question you asked me, it's just a unique perspective to help pace. It can be rather hard to follow, but it's great for rants, or just random thoughts as that was. Thank you for your review, and thank you for writing this.

And thank you for being a real life hero. What you have done does not go unappreciated here. Thank You so Much for serving this Country.

God is wise and sends his special angel s when we need them most. It is up to us to recognize them and hold on to them. My prayers for you and your wife that you may find peace in your heart and comfort from your new Angel in heaven. He will be waiting for you in your time. Live well and make Him proud.

No greater pain then losing a child. My sister lost her baby daughter of nine years old last year. Whole family went to her. There are no words that can be said. A very sad poem. We need our family in our darkest days.
