Why

Why

A Poem by Warrior
"

The greatest challenge when graduating from high-school is forming new friendships, and trying to reform old friendships. This has left me feeling alone.

"
Why are people the way they are?

Alone and afraid
I seek companionship
I ache day and night
for a true relationship

The people around me
I wish to befriend
but with each beginning
soon there is an end

They seem good of heart
with no bad intent
but when they are tested
they are easily bent

So few remain true
I hold them like gold
I trip and some slip
more stories untold

Why does nobody seek what I seek?
Why don’t they see the value?
Why do they fake it?
Why leave?
why

I think that in my personal experience, people who come across as quiet just havent been asked the right questions yet and put more thought into their answers. Its only when the right person comes along that you realize they do have a lot to say, but have been perhaps overlooked because they are deeper than just conforming to a fad.
It will be worth the wait when that person is noticed more than a passing "hi!"
I like the thought behind this, knowing how new and intense a chapter of life it can be. I think you will find your words resonate with more people than you think.

when people fake it, it's usually more about them than it is you. they maybe don't have the confidence or courage to open up beyond what is on the surface.
I've experienced this a lot too but when one friend stays for the long haul that's worth more than a dozen who stay for the short trip.
