Oblivious

Oblivious

A Poem by Peaches

An old man walks the road

Stumbling from time to time

He lurches a little and reaches out

Grabbing a pole he passes

Who is this man you wonder

Would you believe me if I told you

He was once well known

He has given away more money

Than you or I ever had

He was once a gentleman

Now his life spent gathering

Has left him alone

His hands too crippled to write

His ears to silent to hear

He is alone and no one reaches out

No one reaches out

Because we can not see

Because we do not want to see

Because to see means we must react

And we wish to flow silently by

Oblivious….

There is nothing negative in this.
This is a reminder that every person we see has
had an existance similar to our own>
Rich or famous, poor and in need, in the end we
are all the same.

If we can see ourselves in the eyes of the weak and
oppressed then we can finally claim membership in
the human race.

You have said all this and much, much more.

Thank you !

I've been writing forever it seems. I don't remember exactly when I began but by the time I was eight I had started a collection. I have even got some of those poems and stories still tucked away, to .. more..
