Heartless

She wanted a heart.

Shadows had nothing on she
For her looks could steal a soul,
But she planned on capturing a heart

For one to love, to hold, to cling to

She searched and searched, never leaving the confines of the night
For the hearts she found never beat quite right..

Until one day she found one at last
And a man to hold nearby

Though this cautionary tale has a twisted plot

For the heart was held within her grip-
His body was strewn away.

She finally had a man to hold
And a heart just for her

And yet.. The beat of the heart never matched her own,
Nor would it ever.

For inside her lay her heart, shattered like glass, in the pit of her stomach

Where she would forever live heartlessly.
